St Comgall's success

ST Comgall's, Antrim retained their South West Antrim JFC title when they defeated Cargin by four points, 1-12 to 1-8, writes Jim Smyth. Antrim hit the ground running at O'Cahan Park, Portglenone and had a goal and five points on the board at the end of the first quarter. Ex-Cargin player, Paddy Quinn was first to draw blood in the third minute followed quickly by a Brian Williamson effort.

When Dillon Murdock found the net in the sixth minute the writing was on the wall for the Toome side and at half-time four separated the sides. The Erin's Own men made up a lot of lost ground on the resumption and pulled the game back to 1-8 each. The holders watched their lead squeezed but points from Quinn, Devine and Darrell McNeill stopped the rot as Myles Devine (0-3) and McNeill wrapped up the win. St Comgall's: M Devine (0-6), D Murdock (1-0), P Quinn (0-2), D McNeill (0-2), B Williamson (0-1), P McAuley (0-1). Cargin: D McKeever (0-7), H McGuckin (0-1), A McClafferty (1-0).
