McManus blow for Monaghan

Monaghan's allstar attacker Conor McManus has suffered significant knee and ankle ligament damage, it was confirmed last night, writes Colin O'Neill.

The Clontibret forward was injured in a club game against Magheracloone on Friday night and an initial scan yesterday showed up significant damage.

Monaghan manager Malachy o'Rourke has his fingers crossed that the injury will not end McManus's season. "We are hoping that it would not be just conclusive yet and we would be hoping that it would not be cruciate or anything like that but he has done fairly severe ligament damage to both the knee and the ankle," said o'Rourke. "It is a bad blow for Conor personally and for the team. he would obviously be a huge loss for Monaghan."
