Watson wanted by a top county

LOUGHGIEL and former Antrim star liam Watson has been approached by a 'top' county with a view to transferring, The Irish News understands.

Having not appeared for the saffrons since initially opting out of the panel in 2012, Watson (pictured) is believed to be considering his options after an approach was made this week by an inter-county manager.

With loughgiel's hopes of regaining the All-Ireland club title dashed by Mount leinster rangers at the semi-final stage last weekend, the Allstar nominated forward is believed to be interested in the move. Watson, who had been in and out of the Antrim panel at various stages between 2008 and 2012, decided to concentrate on club action for the 2013 season, and has not been involved with his county since.

It is not known which county has approached Watson but it is believed that it is one of the front-runners for the liam MacCarthy Cup.
