Shanahan blow for Waterford

WATERFORD half-forward Maurice Shanahan has been ruled out of the remainder of the National hurling League after damaging ankle ligaments against tipperary at the weekend. The Lismore clubman hobbled off in the decies' division 1a opener and it is likely that he will be sidelined for up to six weeks. Waterford manager Derek McGrath will now need to revise his team selection for Sunday's second-round clash with Galway after a provisional line-up named Shanahan at right corner-forward. Seamus Prendergast is also an injury doubt for McGrath after the ardmore full-forward damaged his hand at the weekend.
