Coaching days are here again

THE Irish News is once again teaming up with O'Neills Sportswear and St Mary's University College, Belfast to promote its hugely-popular GAA School Coaching Days initiative.

And we are also delighted to announce that The Irish News have another perfect-fit sponsor on board this year, Strathroy Dairies.

We're offering five primary schools the chance to get their pupils moving and enjoying a fun-filled instructive coaching session designed by a top GAA coach and attended by a current county player.

There will be an Irish News O'Neills Jersey for the teacher of each winning school plus schools who submit 250 tokens (10 collector cards) will also receive a free set of 15 training bibs.

The popular GAA Coaching Days sessions will take place on selected dates between April and May and will be held at each of the winning schools.

To enter schools must submit 25 tokens accompanied by the official Coaching Days Collector Card.

Collector cards can be downloaded and printed from www.irishnews.com/ coachingdays and may be photocopied as many times as you wish.

Tokens will appear daily in the Irish News until Saturday March 8. Closing date for entries is 12pm on Monday, March 24.

Managing director of O'Neills Sportswear, Kieran Kennedy, said he is delighted to be involved once again with The Irish News to promote this successful campaign which enjoys the services and skills of a fantastic coaching staff.

"O'Neills sportswear are delighted to partner The Irish News in the promotion of Gaelic games in schools alongside St

Mary's University College and Strathroy Diaries.

"This is a very worthwhile campaign, supported fully by all parties involved and we are delighted to have such high-quality coaches to take part in such an important exercise."

John Brolly, Irish News marketing manager, stresses the importance of these school coaching days, key initiatives not only in improving the health and skills of schoolchildren, but in promoting gaelic games in general.

"We are delighted to have Strathroy Diaries on board for our GAA Coaching initiative, it's a great fit,'' he said.

"We know these coaching sessions will again not only provide a great day for the school children, but also offer encouragement for everyone to become involved in Gaelic games.

"Exercise is an important part of the day for children. And the schools, teachers and children will all benefit from the high quality sessions provided by St Mary's coaches."

Irish News sports editor Thomas Hawkins says the initiative is always a highly-popular one, which is evident in the entries the competition gathers.

"It's always a highly-popular initiative, all involved really get behind it," he said.

"It provides an opportunity for schools to get behind their children in a fun-filled sports event."
