'Mossy' magic inspires Vincent's

St Vincent's (Dublin)...........1-14 Summerhill (Meath)............1-10

TOMAS Quinn hit 1-8 as St Vincent's booked their place in the Leinster Club Senior Football

Championship final with a four-point win over Meath champions Summerhill at Parnell Park.

The former Dublin ace led the line for the Marino side, who were without the suspended Diarmuid Connelly and Ger Brennan.

Quinn (pictured) scored 1-4 in the opening half as the Dublin champions took a 1-7 to 0-6 lead.

Summerhill started well and led 0-4 to 0-1 early on with Brian Ennis (two), David Larkin and Conor Gillespie all on target.

Quinn's left-footed shot beat Tony McDonnell for the crucial score of the half and 'Mossy' Quinn landed three more scores on the restart as St Vincent's took control.

However, the Meath men came storming back and a fisted goal from Paul Rispin - along with points from Gillespie, Sean Dalton and Adrian Kenny - saw the gap reduced to a single point.

Yet, Summerhill couldn't level the game and late points from Quinn, Ruairi Trainor and Eamon Fennell saw St Vincent's book their place in the provincial decider in two weeks' time.

Portlaoise (Laois)......1-9 Moorefield (Kildare)...0-8

PORTLAOISE qualified for the Leinster club final for the second successive year

with a four-point victory over Kildare champions Moorefield in O'Moore Park.

The Laois kingpins lost out to Ballymun Kickham's in last year's provincial final and they will face Dublin opposition again this year in the form of St Vincent's on Sunday, December 8.

Last week's extra-time win over Longford Slashers didn't seem to affect Portlaoise as they raced into a 0-3 to no score lead early on.

Moorefield battled back to lead 0-6 to 0-4 at the break but Brian McCormack struck for the game's only goal early in the second half.

McCormack's major was vital in the context of the match and the Kildare side were not able to bridge the gap in the second half despite the best efforts of Ronan Sweeney and Adam Tyrrell.
