Summerhill give Newtown Blues

SUMMERHILL booked their place in the last four of the Leinster club SFC but they were forced to come from behind to see off the challenge of Newtown Blues of Louth in Drogheda, 2-13 to 1-13.

The Blues struck for the first goal in an absorbing contest with Brian Kermode giving the Louth champions a great start.

However, the Meath men responded in style by hitting 1-2 without reply, with Adrian Kenny blasting home a fine goal while Brian Ennis and Paul Rispin tagged on points.

The momentum then swung back in favour of Newtown with Colm Judge and Robert Carr helping the Louth side take a 1-7 to 1-4 lead into the interval.

Summerhill begin to boss the midfield after the break with Michael Byrne prominent. Byrne also kicked three points, while Seanie Dalton and Barry Dardis were also on target. Rispin then intercepted a short kick-out before scoring Summerhill's crucial second goal.
