more focused Clontibret made no mistake at the second attempt on Friday night to book their place in next Sunday's monaghan SFC final with a 2-13 to 1-13 semi-final replay win over monaghan Harps in emyvale.
Clontibret, who will meet Scotstown in the decider, were never behind, although monaghan Harps were right in the game throughout.
Clontibret had to keep their focus right through, particularly in defence, to keep them on track for their second successive appearance in the county final.
Clontibret led 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time and then struck a decisive blow in the opening minute of the second half when Vincent Corey was on hand to capitalise on a defensive error to rifle to the Harps' net for a five-point lead. Entering the final quarter, however, monaghan Harps had the margin down to two points.
However, when Clontibret struck for a second goal from substitute Conor Lavelle with five minutes of normal time remaining to retake a five-point lead, they looked home and hosed.
A minute later, Harps struck back when a goalkeeping error allowed a speculative shot by Liam Hahessy to creep into the Clontibret net to make it two points between the teams.
However, Clontibret held out in a frenetic finish as monaghan Harps laid siege to their goal but couldn't find a way through.
