Cathal McCarron (Tyrone) v Cillian O'Connor (Mayo)
O'CONNOR'S recent scoring exploits are frightening. He scored six goals in his last two games, a hat-trick against Donegal, and a hat-trick against London. O'Connor's importance to Mayo cannot be underestimated. While O'Connor racked up 3-1 from play against Donegal, it's worth noting that Alan Freeman (0-2) and Andy Moran (0-1) only managed three points between them. In a rout, that's not a great return from two players who spent the entire game in the full-forward line.
Should Cathal McCarron shackle O'Connor, there is a decent chance that Freeman and Moran can also be contained. McCarron is capable of a big performance. In the National League final, he held Bernard Brogan scoreless from play.
Brogan, however, was struggling for form. In contrast, O'Connor is in the form of his life.
