Oak Leafs seek Cats revenge

DERRY will be searching for the first win of their All-Ireland campaign when they take on Kilkenny tomorrow in the Liberty Insurance Senior Camogie Championship at 1.30pm in Donaghmore Ashbourne.

The Oak Leafers suffered defeat at the hands of the Cats in their first ever Senior League game, but they have gained some valuable experience since February with wins over Offaly and Tipperary and good performances against Clare and Wexford.

Manager John A Mullan believes his side are more than capable of getting a win at the weekend.

"We have learnt so much from the games against Clare and Wexford and we will head into the game knowing that we can compete at the top level," said Mullan.

"They are a good side, they beat us in the League and we know that we will have to be at our best tomorrow."

Ann Dalton and Claire Phelan have been key players for Kilkenny around the middle of the park and they will hope to put pressure on the Oak Leafers.

Upfront Katie Power and Denise Gaule will look to test the Derry defence but Katrina O'Kane, Edelle Henry and Aileen McCusker have all been solid for the Oak Leafers so far this season.

Derry have fire power upfront with captain Grainne McGoldrick and Katie McAnenly both dangerous and will test the talented Kilkenny backline, while Eimear Mullan, Denise McGuigan and midfielder Karen Kielt are all capable of getting scores.
