Ballymena United 5 Dungannon Swifts 1

BALLYMENA’S recent revival in form went up a gear on Saturday as they hammered Dungannon at the Showgrounds.

United led 4-0 at half-time thanks to a Paul McElroy brace and goals from Josh Kelly and Trai Hume.

Ben Gallagher pulled a goal back for Dungannon with a header early in the second-half before Tony Kane completed the scoring for Ballymena from the spot.

Carrick Rangers 1 Warrenpoint Town 1

A LATE Ryan Swan header earned a draw for Warrenpoint at Taylor’s Avenue and prevented Carrick making it two wins on the bounce.

Kyle Cherry opening the scoring for the home side on 33 minutes with a glancing header from Lee Chapman's cross before Swan struck for Town in the dying seconds.

Glenavon 2 Larne 2

GLENAVON twice came from a goal behind against Larne on Saturday in an entertaining draw at Mourneview Park.

The in-form Matthew Fitzpatrick cancelled out Martin Donnelly's opener for Larne, but the visitors struck back to lead at the break through Davy McDaid.

Larne looked on course for victory until Conan Byrne won a spot-kick and then converted it himself with 17 minutes left to play. Tiernán Lynch's side remain in fourth position while Glenavon stay in eighth.

Glentoran 1 Crusaders 0

A JAY Donnelly strike in second-half injury-time was just about enough to give Glentoran their first win over Crusaders in 22 league games between the sides.

The match looked to be heading for a stalemate when Donnelly ran on to a 91st minute Andrew Mitchell pass and, with the ball bouncing invitingly, lifted a lovely lob over the advancing Seán O'Neill.

Philip Lowry, who had a shot cleared off the line earlier in the game, headed over a good opportunity to level for the visitors in the dying seconds. The defeat is the fourth loss in-a-row for Stephen Baxter's men.

Portadown 0 Linfield 1

LINFIELD bounced back from their midweek defeat to Ballymena by edging out Portadown at Shamrock Park.

Jordan Stewart fired home from a goalmouth scramble after 11 minutes in windy conditions in Portadown. The visitors bossed much of the game but Portadown posed a threat and Adam McCallum hit the crossbar.

Despite Andy Waterworth having a goal controversially disallowed, the leaders held out to go 10 points clear.
