DERRY CITY striker Ally Roy wants to try and finish the season on a positive note starting at Bray Wanderers tonight.

The Northern Ireland U21 international admitted the squad let the fans down after Friday night’s final game at home, when they loss to Cork City and he hopes that those City fans still have faith in them for their last two remaining games at Bray and St Patrick’s Athletic.

“We were hoping to try and win all our remaining games and send the fans home happy with a nice wee end of the season, especially at the Brandywell, but now all we can do now is head to Bray on Monday and hopefully get the three points there,” he insisted.

“Hopefully the fans will go to the away game and support us and show a bit of faith in us and belief in us that we can go and get a result there and that’s what we plan to do.

“We have had a lot of games in a short space of time recently and we have two more this week.”

Roy conceded that morale in the changing room is low but he believes that the squad can stick together and bounce back at already relegation Wanderers this evening.

“Yes it’s hard after a result like that to try and lift the morale but we have a strong group of boys in there with a good football mentality,” he stated.

“We’ll all stick together and find a way to keep going and hopefully we can get a result and put in a performance in Bray.

“Obviously it was going to be a hard last home game of the season coming up against last year’s champions, but we wanted to try and get a result to see the fans off in our last home game, but while we played a decent brand of football and attacked a bit, but at the end of the day the result says 3-0.

“Look you can play as much good football as you want but if you aren’t going to win the game it doesn’t matter.

“It has been a long season and yes obviously we all tried our best to put on a show for the fan every week, as they are paying their hard earned money to come and watch us and then we try to put on a show for them.

“We obviously didn’t do that today (on Friday), but to be honest I can’t really describe why that didn’t happen, because we put the effort in and unfortunate that we couldn’t get the result.”

City make the trip to the Carlisle Grounds with midfielder Nicky Low missing with a knee problem and boss Kenny Shiels may change things up and give some of his second string players a run out for the remaining two games.
