Danske Bank Premiership: Ards v Glentoran (tonight, Bangor Fuels Arena, 7.45pm)

ARDS can leapfrog Glentoran and move up to eighth in the Danske Bank Premiership with victory tonight.

Manager Colin Nixon – a Glentoran folk hero and former captain who made a record 792 appearances for the east Belfast club - is without the suspended Craig McMillen, Johnny Taylor and David McCullough.

He’ll be keen to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against title-chasing Cliftonville and Crusaders.

Meanwhile, Gary Haveron’s Glentoran have won just once in their last five league games – a 5-0 victory over struggling Portadown – but the Glens boss hasn’t given up on a spot in the top six.

“We have got to beat the teams in and around us to try and break into that top six,” he said.

“Our next two matches against Ards and Ballinamallard are ones we really need to be getting points out of.”

Haveron will be without former Rangers striker Nacho Novo who serves an automatic ban following his dismissal for an attempted head-butt in last weekend's 3-0 defeat by Crusaders.

Glentoran (two points ahead of Ards) sit four points behind Dungannon Swifts and six behind sixth-placed Glenavon with eight games left before the league splits into a top six and a bottom six for the last five sets of games.
