The demo for Fifa 17 will be available for download on PlayStation 4, Xbox and PC from September 13.

EA Sports’ latest instalment features an array of new features, including The Journey – where players will take a young footballer from a club’s youth team to international superstardom.

The game’s demo – always released a few weeks before the full game, which is out on September 29 – features 12 teams and will let users take advantage of the new gameplay features from the regular kick-off mode. Most excitingly, it will offer most people the first glimpse of The Journey.

Stamford Bridge is playable in the demo, and the 12 clubs featured are Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon, Seattle Sounders, Japan’s Gamba Osaka and Mexico’s Tigres UANL.

The new Fifa always arrives at the perfect time, just as playing with the previous season’s squads becomes a bit tedious. No doubt the option to finally use Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Manchester United will be welcomed, as well as City, Chelsea and Juve’s stellar signings.

Most importantly, though, we get to start our journey as Alex Hunter.
