Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had much to discuss ahead of their first competitive fixture of the season at Everton on Saturday.

Here, Press Association Sport focuses on the talking points.

On new signings Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama...

"I don't really know about Vincent Janssen, I just know that he made a great season with his club in Holland. He's a goalscorer and we really needed someone in his position to back-up 'H' (Harry Kane). And Victor, we know him well, he's a beast, and both players are going to bring some positive things for the team next season."

On the coming season...

"There are so many challengers, for the Champions League, for the title. Last season we struggled a bit the first few games. That's the main thing, to start well and strong, and after to be as consistent as possible. We know the competition in the Premier League is getting more tough every season, because every club is capable of buying top players, and now we can see the best managers in Europe in the Premier League - most of them."

On criticism of Joe Hart...

"Solidarity between goalkeepers... we can always do better and we can always do worse. The English national team maybe failed during the Euros, but it's not only because of this player. It's a team, and it's not only because of one, two, three players. Joe Hart, he doesn't need describing, we all know him and he's one of the top goalkeepers. He's the number one in England; you have some very good other goalkeepers, like (Jack) Butland, like (Fraser) Forster, but he proved a lot during the past, with Manchester City or the England national team."

On Southampton manager Claude Puel, who Lloris worked with at Lyon...

"It's not easy as a manager to come to the Premier League after several years in the French league. You need to adapt with the philosophy of the Premier League, but he's going to bring his conception of football. He has a lot of experience, with the Champions League, with the French league, and I'm very happy to see him in the Premier League, because I know him well and I know that he wanted an experience outside of France. I hope he's going to have a great season."
