SUPERSTAR striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will join Manchester United for next season, he has announced on social media.

The 34-year-old journeyman had been linked with the club for a number of weeks, and reports had indicated that the move was to be finalised this week.

With Ibrahimovic publicly voicing his distaste for former United manager Louis van Gaal, the arrival of Jose Mourinho appears to have been integral to a deal being brokered.

Ibrahimovic worked under Mourinho at Inter Milan during the 2008-09 season.

Having only been announced as Manchester United manager last month, Mourinho has wasted no time in the transfer market.

The former Chelsea manager recently signed young centre-back Eric Bailly from Villarreal for £30m and is reportedly closing in on Borussia Dortmund's advanced playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Ibrahimovic recently left French giants Paris Saint-Germain after refusing to sign a contract extension, scoring an impressive 38 goals in 31 league appearances in his final season.

On his twitter the flamboyant striker, who has never shied away from fanfare, wrote: "Time to let the world know. My next destination is Manchester United"

Details of Ibrahimovic's contract are yet to be announced but he is expected to sign a short-term deal with the FA Cup champions.
