FOOTBALL commentator and columnist Liam Beckett is set for a showdown with Manchester United legend Roy Keane.

The Ballymoney man has joined the team for next month’s charity dinner organised by former Northern Ireland international Pat McGibbon.

McGibbon, now part of Portadown’s backroom team, will welcome Republic assistant manager Keane to the Armagh City Hotel on Thursday February 4 for a gala fundraiser.

Proceeds will go to McGibbon’s Train To Be Smart TTBS Juniors charity, a Craigavon-based football coaching project that also provides education to young people on the importance of sport for improving physical, mental and emotional health.

Beckett is on board to interview Keane then host the question-and-answer session.

“The question-and-answer session between Roy and the audience should be interesting!” said Beckett.

"Everyone knows what a controversial character Roy is and there are so many topics to chat to him about, from the World Cup to Mick McCarthy to his fall-out with Sir Alex - you could spend a week chatting to him.”

Tickets for An Evening With Roy Keane are available from Skelton Travel in Lurgan on 028 38324741 at £65 per person - with the cost including a drinks reception, three-course meal and live entertainment.

Corporate table options are also available on a limited basis.
