SCOTTISH football was badly affected by the adverse weather but there was plenty of drama in the truncated Ladbrokes Premiership card at the weekend.

Celtic v Hamilton, Partick v Motherwell and Hearts v Inverness were postponed, but Dens Park was passed fit for purpose earlier in the day and Aberdeen moved to within four points of leaders Celtic with a convincing 2-0 win over Dundee.

Dons forward Niall McGinn opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a drive from the edge of the box.

Striker Adam Rooney doubled the visitors’ lead after 25 minutes after he was set up by Jonny Hayes to give the visitors back-to-back wins for the first time since September.

St Johnstone surrendered a two-goal lead at Ross County before scoring a last-gasp winner in a 3-2 victory.

David Wotherspoon gave Saints an early lead after he closed down County goalkeeper Gary  Woods as he attempted to clear and the former Hibernian midfielder made it 2-0 just before the interval with a fine finish.

County fought back after the break and goals from Liam Boyce and Andrew Davies looked to have rescued a point for the Highland club.

However, with two minutes remaining, Saints skipper Dave Mackay beat Woods with a 25-yard free-kick to take the points back to Perth and take St Johnstone one point behind third-placed Hearts.

At Rugby Park it ended 1-1 between Kilmarnock and bottom side Dundee United with the home side playing most of the match with 10 men.

Returning Killie strike Kris Boyd scored in the third minute after being set up by Josh Magennis.

Gary Locke’s side should have added to their lead but instead found themselves pegged back and a man down after Stuart Findlay was sent off for a foul on Ryan McGowan, before Billy McKay scored from the consequent penalty to give the struggling Tayside club their first point in five games.
