THE weekend’s action kicks off with Ballinamallard United hosting bottom of the table Warrenpoint Town at Ferney Park tonight (8pm).

The Mallards come into the game in buoyant mood following their away wins at Glentoran and Portadown. They were also unlucky to only take one point from their home game with champions, Crusaders.

Away from the league, ‘Whitey’ Anderson’s men also recently beat Linfield at Windsor Park in the JBE League Cup.

All-in-all then, there has been a quite a turnaround from August and September when the Fermanagh side registered no wins from eight played.

The story is very different for Warrenpoint Town who are currently propping up the table, having lost their last seven league outings. Needless to say, Barry Gray’s team desperately need to pick up points quickly.

Neutral observers will be hoping for a repeat of the final game of last season at Ferney Park between the two. That contest finished 3-3 with the home side coming from behind twice to earn a draw.

Indeed goals have been a feature of this clash. In four Premiership meetings at Ferney Park, there have been an average of almost five goals per game.

This time around, Warrenpoint’s dire need may see them take the points in a low scoring encounter.
