Win number nine for Michael Conlan

Belfast fighter Michael Conlan

BELFAST box-fighter Michael Conlan continued his meteoric rise to the top with a seventh round stoppage win over Italy's Nicola Cipoletta at the Park Theater in Las Vegas at the weekend.

The west Belfast featherweight made it win number nine on an unblemished fight CV, two thirds of his victories by the KO route, and now wants something tougher to challenge his ability.

Conlan (26) was never in any danger against the Italian before nailing the defensive Cipoletta against the ropes in round seven, forcing referee Russell Mora to intervene.

"He was just negative. Now I want real opponents. I want top 10, top 15 opponents," declared Conlan.
