Holy Trinity boxers set to blast off at Falls Bowling club

A packed Holy Trinity boxing club in west Belfast was a hive of activity last night as the club coaches put the finishing touches to training preparations ahead of a tough team challenge on Friday night.

Trinity stars Sean McComb and Stephen McMonagle, plus Games coach Peter Brady, will be winding down after their Commonwealth Games campaign but there was no rest this week for their clubmates up at the Turf Lodge gym.

Around a dozen of the club's boxers were hard at it last night sharpening their skills for the Holy Trinity end of season awards event at the Falls Bowling Club, Andersonstown this Friday.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Sean Duffy will headline the 12-bout bill against talented Cookstown lightweight Teo Alin, and Trinity matchmaker Michael Hawkins Jnr has lined up a range of other exciting contests.

Kian Bittles, part of last year’s Commonwealth Youth Games team, takes on John Paul Hale from Star at 56 kilos, while Jon O’Connell faces Cookstown’s Craig Bigger in an exciting 50kg tussle.

Doors open at 7.30pm, £5 entry.
