Carl Frampton to fight Andrés Gutiérrez at the SSE Arena in Belfast

Carl Frampton has revealed his opponent for the July 29 fight at the SSE Arena will be Mexican boxer Andres Gutierrez.

The Jackal made the announcement at at a lunchtime press conference.

Gutierrez, known as the Jaguar, has won 35 of his 37 professional fights with 24 of those being by KO. 

The Jaguar turned professional at 15 years old and has held the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) super bantamweight title, IBF International bantamweight title, WBC FECARBOX featherweight title and the WBC Silver super bantamweight title.

Tickets are going to be like gold dust for this home fight, with Carl announcing their date of availabilty before his competitor.  

Frampton has not fought since his first career loss to Leo Santa Cruz in their WBA title fight in Las Vegas in January.

It had been rumoured that this fight would be a third against Santa Cruz but such a battle has not materialised.

The same can be said of the Jackal's dream of fighting at Windsor Park as the July fight is going ahead at the SSE Arena.

Frampton said he had hoped to fight there but "this time it wasn't to be for a few reasons".
