Frampton has confirmed that he will be fighting in Belfast this summer.

'The Jackal' made the announcement through a twitter message this morning telling everyone to keep the date July 29th free.

Frampton has remained tight lipped about who his competitor will be in this homecoming bout.

He has not been in the ring since losing his WBA featherweight title to Leo Santa Cruz in January.

Many had fought a rematch was on the cards but it has failed to materialise.

Lee Selby has also been ruled out as the IBFchampion is defending his title against Jonathan Victor Barros later in the month.

The other unknown is that of the venue, Frampton's wish to box at Windsor Park is well documented, but with issues such as broadcasting the event and the unpredictability of Northern Irish weather the SSE Arena may be a better option.

Frampton said that more information would follow. A press conference will be held during the coming week.
