TYRONE McKenna won the vacant Celtic Super-Lightweight Championship with a commanding win over Sean Creagh at the Titanic Exhibition Centre.

Creagh’s corner rightly pulled him out near the end of the fifth to save him from further punishment because he had been comprehensively out-gunned.

McKenna picked his shots well throughout and Creagh had no answer to his slick movement and fast hands and he was on the receiving end of steady stream of left uppercuts as he tried to bulldoze his way forward.

Earlier Steven Ward got his professional career off to an impressive start with a points win over Merdjidin Yuseinov.

Outclassed Yuseinov was negative throughout and survived a late assault after the stylish Ward caught him clean with a right hook.

Earlier James Tennyson had a toe-to-toe battle with late replacement Raphael Castillo but won every round to take his career stats to 17-2 last night.

The Kronk super-featherweight landed the cleaner punches in an entertaining showdown to take a deserved decision.

Meanwhile, Declan Geraghty needed just 33 seconds to see offKhvicha Gigolashviliwhile Gary Sweeney also had a first round knockout win and there were points win for Con Sheehan and Sean Turner while Stephen Ormond was always in control against Daniel Bazo.
