A FIGHT between Carl Frampton and Lee Selby would “easily be made” according to the Welsh IBF featherweight champion’s manager Chris Sanigar.

With the dust yet to settle on Frampton’s points win against Scott Quigg, Selby has emerged as a front-runner to be the Belfast WBA and IBF super-bantam king’s next opponent.

WBA featherweight champ Leo Santa Cruz is also in the frame and, while that fight could be a catch-weight 126lbs, Frampton would have to move up to the featherweight limit to fight Selby.

“To make it worthwhile, we’d have to do it at nine stone for Lee’s titles to be on the line,” said Sanigar.

“Windsor Park is a possibility and we’ve also got the Millennium Stadium, so there’d be a lot of things to talk about. I get on great with Barry McGuigan, so I think negotiations may be a lot easier than they were with Quigg’s party. Barry’s family and my family get on very well together and it’s a fight that could easily be made. We talk regular, my son talks with Barry’s boys and I talk to Barry on a regular basis.”

Sanigar says he rates Frampton and feels he underperformed against Quigg at the Manchester Arena last Saturday night: “He’s a lot better fighter than how he performed on Saturday, that’s for sure and we would just look forward to it,” he said.

“Lee Selby is something special - it would be a lot different than boxing Scott Quigg, I would assure you. Lee is improving all the time. They have both had experience of boxing in the USA and it would be one of the biggest fights for a long, long time.”

Selby has fought in Belfast before - he beat Martin Lindsay at the Odyssey Arena back in 2013 to retain his British and Commonwealth titles: “Me and Selby would be a huge fight,” said Frampton.

“Two British fighters going toe-to-toe again. I don’t want to sound like I’m being derogatory towards him here - I really, rate Lee Selby, I think he’s an excellent fighter and someone I’ve admired for a long, long time. But if I was to go to featherweight they are the fights that I’d be chasing.”
