PROMOTER Mark Dunlop says Belfast lightweight prospect Paul Hyland can “go all the way”.
Unbeaten Hyland (9-0) takes on capable Czech Republic journeyman Jan Holec (6-2-1) at the Europa Hotel on February 6, intending to build on a terrific 2015 that included five wins and ended with a fight-of-the-year contender against Virgile Degonzaga at the Waterfront Hall in November.
Holec is on a winning roll after knocking out English prospect Scott Jenkins, who went into the fight 14-0, so a win would see ‘Hylo’ improve his claims for a British title shot.
“Hylo is much more than a crowd pleaser,” said Dunlop.
“He has the talent to go all the way, he has faced decent opponents so far, he is not sitting just outside the top 10 of a very strong division by design, he is there by merit.”
The main event sees Belfast fighter James ‘The Future’ Fryers take on ‘Maxi’ Hughes of Yorkshire in a 10-round eliminator for the British Super-Featherweight title.
Another exciting match up on the card features former amateur stand-out Tyrone McCullagh, who now has his third fight in the paid ranks and first on home soil against Latvian Featherweight Antons Zacests. Zacests (2-1) is a former kickboxing champion and comes with a winning record and is touted to be a durable test for the Derry man, having gone the distance is his previous three contests.
McCullagh (2-0) has won his first two contests by second round knockouts and is keen to keep the momentum going and push himself up the British super bantamweight rankings.
The action-packed undercard also includes James Tennyson, the mandatory challenger for the British Featherweight title, Coalisland hotshot Fergal McCrory and 2012 Commonwealth Games starlet Joe Fitzpatrick (3-0), who are all primed for the exciting six-fight card.
Tickets are priced at £75 VIP ringside (including a four-course meal), £45 (ringside) and £35 (unreserved). For tickets, call Paul Hyland jnr on 07828764545.
