EAMONN O’Kane says he’ll deliver the performance of his life at Madison Square Garden, New York tonight when he takes on middleweight contender Tureano Johnson.

Speaking at a press conference this week ‘King Kane’ said: “Wow, it’s a dream to be at the mecca of boxing Madison Square Garden to showcase my talent.

“I look forward to delivering.”

He’ll have to against Bahamas-born Johnson (18-1) who pledged to put on a “spectacular show” when he meets the Derry man (14-1) on the undercard of the Gennady Golovkin versus David Lemieux WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight unification rumble live on BoxNation.

“This is a great opportunity for me to show the talent that I have,” said Johnson.

“On Saturday, I will put on a spectacular show.

“If you don’t know me now, you will definitely know my name after Saturday. This fight goes beyond Eamonn O’Kane, I want to fight guys like Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux and that is what I will do after I defeat O’Kane.”

Meanwhile, in the main event pound-for-pound ace Golovkin believes his clash with fellow hard-hitter David Lemieux (34-2) will rank alongside some of the middleweight division’s best ever.

The showdown pits together two of the world’s biggest punchers, who average a near 90 per cent knockout ratio between them, with the electrifying Golovkin saying that the clash will be an all-action affair to follow the great battles of the past.

“This is a true fight, an original fight,” said Golovkin (33-0).

“It’s going to be a present for people. Boxing isn’t a game; it’s very important who the true number one is. This is my big test and my first step to history and to a new story.

“This is my first unification fight and my first pay-per-view fight. It’s about being a true warrior and not just a business man. I love to fight, it’s that simple. I’m looking to knock him out.

“It’s like a long time ago when Marvin Hagler, Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard all fought; it will be in this same style.

“I didn’t feel any pressure to get these big fights but I know every step is bigger and I know Lemieux is a strong guy, a dangerous guy.

“Everyone knows my style and it’s a very interesting fight for the fans and for television.”
