Kenya's Joel Kositany victorious in 35th Belfast Marathon

KENYA’S Joel Kositany gained his third victory in the 35th Belfast City Marathon after a four-way battle for most of the distance. Kositany finished strongly to win by over a minute in 2:17:39 in the best running conditions seen in Belfast for the marathon in some years.

NORTHERN Irish Paralympic champion Jason Smyth has welcomed plans to offer tickets for the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championships (August 4-13, 2017) and World ParaAthletics Championships (July 14-23, 2017) in London at family friendly prices to encourage people from all over Northern Ireland to attend.

North Belfast Harrier Matt Shields lands silver in the Two Oceans Marathon

NORTH Belfast Harrier Matt Shields put aside his coaching duties last weekend to take part in the Two Oceans Marathon 56K Race in South Africa. Once one of the top marathon runners in the country with a best under 2 hours and 20 minutes, Shields showed all his old style to finish a close second in the M60-69 category with a time of 4:30:45. 

Robert Heffernan and Olive Loughnane for medal upgrade

IRISH racewalkers Robert Heffernan and Olive Loughnane will be upgraded to Olympic bronze and World gold medals respectively after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld six appeals filed earlier by the IAAF against Russian athletes.
