NORTH Belfast Harriers have announced details of their popular Pure Running Laganside 10k which will take place on Sunday, September 3.

The Harriers are sticking to the course they launched last year and which enjoyed positive feedback from all who took part.

This year’s participants will again run within the environs of Ormeau Park before striking out for the Laganside Embankment and returning to the Ozone Complex, giving spectators lots of opportunity to support their family and friends as they run.

The race is also part of the Novosco 10K Grand Prix which is a not-for-profit 10km running competition from March 2017 until November 2017.

All 15 races are accurately measured and certified as 10km before race day and have permits from Athletics NI.

The host club’s Mark McKinstry was the winner of last year’s race in 31 minutes and 55 seconds, while Mourne Runners’ Laura Graham was the leading lady in 35:36.

The 10K will be preceded by a one-mile race for young runners between 6 and 15 years. Children under 6-years-old (on race day) will not be permitted to participate in the event even with parental supervision.

All children who finish the mile will receive a medal and a goody bag. This is not a chipped event but times and places will be recorded.

There will be chip-timing chip in the adult race and every finisher will receive a bespoke medal. There are generous prizes for the top finishers and in the age categories.

Further details of the event and on-line registration are now available at www.laganside10k.com.
