The Irish News - Wednesday February 10 2010: Bradley ruled out as Clarke faces a sweat
Derry GAA star forward Paddy Bradley has been ruled out of Saturday night's trip to Dublin, while Armagh ace Ronan Clarke remains a doubt for Sunday's game against Westmeath.
Clarke was due to line out against Meath in Navan, but an Achilles injury which he sustained in training last Thursday night forced him to withdraw from the starting team.
Armagh boss Paddy O'Rourke has revealed that there is no guarantee that Clarke will be available for Sunday's round two game in Crossmaglen. “I don't know if he will be fit or not,” said O'Rourke.
“One of the boys walked on his Achilles during a wee game among ourselves. “It was very tender and sore, and during the warm-up on Saturday night, he didn't feel right. “We didn't think there was any point risking him in case he did himself more harm.”
On a more positive front, the Derry manager, Damian Cassidy, said he expects Raymond Wilkinson, scorer of 1-2 against Tyrone, to recover from the injury which forced him to retire from the game in Celtic Park.
