On this Day - November 26 1989: Joe 'The Goal' Gormley was born

Joe Gormley, who joined Cliftonville from Crumlin Star in 2011, is the club's all-time leading goalscorer. He broke Dr Kevin McGarry's previous record of 170 goals, when he smashed home a penalty against Crusaders at Seaview on October 5 this year.

1997: Newcastle's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League ended with a 1-0 defeat to Barcelona.

2004: England finally arrived in Zimbabwe for their controversial one-day international tour. The team entered the country two days late in protest at a number of journalists being refused visas and consequently the schedule was reduced from five to four matches.

2006: Justin Rose won his first European Tour event in four years at the MasterCard Australian Masters in Huntingdale after carding a 12-under-par 276.

2007: Derby chairman Adam Pearson confirmed that the club had parted company with manager Billy Davies.

2009: Portsmouth announced Avram Grant as their new manager, replacing Paul Hart at the helm.

2014: Moeen Ali's maiden one-day international hundred was in vain in a 25-run defeat against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium.
