LINFIELD have signed former Glenavon, Dundalk, Sligo Rovers and Limerick FC striker Daniel Kearns on a two year contract.

After the departure of Kurtis Byrne, the 26-year-old is expected to compete with Andrew Waterworth and Jonathan Smith for a place up front at Windsor Park.

Kearns can also play in midfield and joined West Ham as a teenager, before moving to Dundalk in 2010. He scored a hat trick against Linfield in a Setanta Cup first leg tie.

He joined Glenavon in 2015, and was a substitute for the Lurgan Blues in the Irish Cup final of 2016, when they beat David Healy’s side.

The Belfast native represented Northern Ireland in European U17 Championship qualifiers, but in 2010 he switched allegiances to the Republic of Ireland, going on to represent them at U19, U21 and U23 levels, a decision to switch that was contested by the IFA.
