1999: Wales wrecked England's Grand Slam dream at Wembley, beating them 32-31 as Scott Gibbs scored a dazzling solo try in injury time. Scotland were crowned Five Nations champions for the first time since 1990.

2000: South Africa sacked captain Hansie Cronje as United Cricket Board chairman Dr Ali Bacher revealed the player accepted money for match-fixing.

2001: Australia striker Archie Thompson scored 13 goals as the Socceroos beat American Samoa by a world-record score of 31-0 in their World Cup qualifier.

2005: Tiger Woods won the fourth Masters title of his career, beating Ryder Cup team-mate Chris DiMarco with a 15-foot birdie putt at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off.

2010: A round seven loss to Dublin ensured that Tyrone were relegated from Division One alongside Derry, who finished with a win over Galway.

2014: Sir Dave Brailsford quit his position as British Cycling performance director after 11 years.

2015: Donegal defeated Tyrone 2-16 to 2-12 to earn promotion to Division 2A of the National Hurling League.

2017: Borussia Dortmund's team bus was the victim of what was believed to be a targeted bomb attack as the side travelled to their Champions League quarter-final clash with Monaco.
