1991: Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Abel Resino set a then-world record by going 1,224 minutes without conceding a goal. He would finally be beaten on March 19 after 1,275 minutes.

2004: England prop Jason Leonard announced he was to end his glittering international career after the 2004 Six Nations Championship.

2005: Liverpool, who went on to win the competition, reached the Champions League quarter-finals after a 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, going through 6-2 on aggregate.

2008: Great Britain's Phillips Idowu won gold in the triple jump at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia.

2014: Katarina Johnson-Thompson claimed long jump silver, while Great Britain ended the World Indoor Championships in Poland with six medals.

2017: England beat West Indies by 186 runs in their final one-day international in Barbados to win the series 3-0.
