THERE was joy for the Moy on Saturday, as the Tyrone club were crowned All-Ireland Intermediate football champions.

In a game which proved to be their most comfortable in an unforgettable campaign, the Tyrone champions were mostly in control from the moment that Tom Loughran netted with just 27 seconds gone. They eventually ran out 1-10 to 1-7 winners.

Meanwhile, fortunes were again mixed for Ulster sides on the second weekend of the national leagues.

Tyrone, despite leading by two at half time at home to Dublin, slipped to a 2-13 to 1-11defeat in AFL Division One.

Staying in the top tier, Donegal also fell to a second successive defeat, beaten by a single point at home to Galway, while Monaghan picked up their first points following their narrow win away to Kildare.

In Division Two, Cork continued their two decade long unbeaten run against Down with a six point win in Newry, and Cavan were too strong for Louth.

In the third tier, Derry’s indifferent start continued as they lost out to Longford, but there were impressive second wins for both Fermanagh and Armagh.

And in Division Four, Antrim made the long trip to Waterford worthwhile as they were eight point winners against the Deise.

The Saffron hurlers lost to Dublin by just the one point, while Donegal were big winners against Derry in AHL Division 2B. In the same division, Armagh were beaten by Mayo, while Down were convincing winners against Wicklow.

In Division 3A, Tyrone lost by four points away to Louth and honours were even between Monaghan and Roscommon.

Cavan were on the wrong side of a hammering from Sligo in their AHL Division 3B clash.
