1987: Chetan Sharma of India claimed the first hat-trick in the cricket World Cup when he dismissed three New Zealand batsmen at Nagpur.

2002: Sven-Goran Eriksson pledged to stay on as England manager in the wake of Football Association chief executive Adam Crozier's resignation.

2005: Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov dismissed chairman George Foulkes and chief executive Phil Anderson and put his son Roman in charge of the Bank of Scotland Premier League club.

2006: Former Scotland midfielder John Collins was appointed Hibernian manager following Tony Mowbray's departure for West Brom.

2007: Ronald Koeman left PSV Eindhoven to take over as manager of Valencia.

2011: World Cup-winning coach Graham Henry announced he was leaving his post with the All Blacks.

2012: Chelsea confirmed they had lodged a formal complaint with the Football Association regarding "inappropriate language" directed at John Obi Mikel by referee Mark Clattenburg during their Barclays Premier League match against Manchester United. Clattenburg was later cleared.

2015: New Zealand made sporting history at Twickenham as they became the first team to be crowned Rugby World Cup winners for a second successive time with a 34-17 victory over Australia.
