Uefa Champions League Group E: Liverpool 2 Sevilla 2

LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp bemoaned two defensive lapses that denied his side victory against Sevilla.

Klopp's side opened their Champions League Group E campaign with a 2-2 draw against their LaLiga opponents at Anfield.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah put the Reds in control after a Dejan Lovren mistake had allowed Wissam Ben Yedder to score after just five minutes.

But Firmino missed the chance to make it 3-1 before half-time when his penalty struck a post and the Reds' defence switched off to allow a Joaquin Correa equaliser with 18 minutes left.

Klopp, who saw defender Joe Gomez sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, told BT Sport 2: "For 85, 86 minutes it was a winning performance.

"We had answers for pretty much everything apart from the goals. I have to see them again. I was looking for someone to show me them but I couldn't find anybody so I'll have to see them again.

"They were the two not so good things but pretty much the rest was good.

"I'm not sure if frustrated is the word, but it's not cool. It's not what we wanted. I don't think it's what we deserved."

Sevilla coach Eduardo Berizzo was sent off in the second half after attempting to slow things down by tossing the ball away at a Liverpool throw-in for a second time.

Klopp was then involved in a heated debate with some members of the Sevilla staff at full-time.

Asked about the incident, Klopp said: "The coach was no problem. I don't think I had any influence on the decision of the ref (to send him to the stands). I didn't ask for a red.

"The bench thought I was responsible for his red card so they didn't like me too much but it's not a problem."
