CARL Frampton's fight with Andres Gutierrez was sensationally called off late on Friday night, 24 hours before they were meant to meet at the SSE Arena.

It is understood that the Mexican fighter was unable to compete after slipping yesterday. Pictures emerged on social media last night of a deep cut on Gutierrez's chin.

The postponement capped off a dramatic day for the Belfast bout with it being scratched as a WBC title eliminator yesterday afternoon after Frampton weighed in one pound over the 127lb limit.

"Cyclone Promotions and The SSE Arena regret to announce that the "Return of The Jackal" event scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 29th July, has been cancelled due to an accident to Andres Gutierrez," a statement from Cyclone Promotions read last night.

"It is hoped that the event will be re-scheduled but ticket holders are advised to retain their tickets and contact point of purchase for further information."

The entire bill has been pulled and Cyclone Promotions have stated their regret at what happened.
