CONOR McManus was yet again the hero for Monaghan as they saw off Cavan in today’s Ulster SFC quarter-final at Breffni Park.

McManus’ second-half goal ultimately proved the difference between the near neighbours as Cavan failed to capitalise on their two-point half-time lead.

In Connacht, Galway stunned a fancied Mayo side by the narrowest of margins at Pearse Stadium. Seán Armstrong kicked six points for Galway as Mayo’s Keith Higgins was given his marching orders nine minutes before half-time.

Kerry will play Cork in the Munster football final after they saw off a dogged Clare side. While the game was level at half-time, Kerry eventually pulled clear in the second-half to win by six.

Offaly and Westmeath will have to do it all again in Leinster after their Leinster SFC quarter-final ended in stalemate.

On Saturday, Antrim lost their second Christy Ring Cup final in succession when they went down to Carlow at Croke Park. Ciarán Clark’s heroics weren’t enough for the Saffrons as his haul of 2-9 was put in the shade by James Doyle’s tally of 4-1 for the triumphant Barrowsiders.

David Redmond’s second-half goal proved the difference between Wexford and Kilkenny as the Yellowbellies ended the Cats’ drive for a Leinster hurling four in-a-row on Saturday evening.

Goalscorers Alan Grant, Gerald Bradley and Brian Cassidy combined to power Derry to Nicky Rackard Cup success at Croke Park and deny Armagh.
