Armagh and Fermanagh to meet for first time since 2010

ARMAGH and Fermanagh will meet in Championship football for the first time since 2010 after they were paired together in this morning’s round one qualifier draw.

Following their disappointing loss to Monaghan in the preliminary round this year, Pete McGrath's side will meet an Armagh team deflated as much by the manner of the defeat to rivals Down on Sunday as the actual loss itself.

They are on the tougher side of the first round draw, with the losers of Cavan and Monaghan set to face Westmeath or Offaly.

Seamus McEnaney’s Wexford, who were surprisingly beaten by Carlow in Leinster, will travel to Limerick while London will host Carlow in the final game on the 1B side.

Derry and Antrim will both be away from home in the 1A draw, with the Saffrons having been handed what looks on paper like a winnable tie away to Sligo.

A Waterford side that came within a whisker of a seismic shock against Cork will be Derry’s first opponents after their heavy home defeat by Tyrone last weekend.

The Oak Leafers did at least avoid their bogey team Longford, who will be away to Louth, while Wicklow will host Laois in the other 1A tie.
