WALES defender Neil Taylor has been hit with a two-game ban as a result of his leg-breaking challenge on Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman last month.

The Swansea left-back careered recklessly into the challenge with Coleman and left him facing a long spell on the sidelines with a broken tibia and fibula.

Taylor was red-carded for the challenge, which occured during the second half of Ireland's 0-0 draw with Wales in their World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.

FIFA took the unusual step of opening further disciplinary proceedings against Taylor, and have now decided that he should serve a two-game ban.

The red card carried an automatic one-game ban, which he would have served against Serbia in June, but he will now miss Wales' home tie with Austria in September as well.
