ULSTER rivals Antrim and Down will meet in round 2A of the Christy Ring Cup this weekend.

Both won their opening round games on Saturday, with Antrim edging Carlow after extra-time in a thrilling tie, while Down recovered from a poor first half to overcome Roscommon.

The sides met in last year’s semi-final where Down pushed Antrim to within four points, but their ebbs appear to have changed since then.

Carlow will look to get back on track against Mayo in the knockout round 2B.

In the Nicky Rackard Cup, Monaghan have been given the bye through the first round of qualifiers, while Armagh’s hopes of reaching a third straight final hang now on a meeting with Louth.

They were well beaten by Donegal, whose reward is a renewal of their rivalry with Tyrone. Favourites Derry will be at home to Longford.
