1932: The late Lord Cowdrey was born in Bangalore, India. Colin Cowdrey scored a one-time record 7,624 runs in 114 Test matches for England. Having played for Kent in county cricket, he was elected president of the MCC in 1986. He died in 2000.
2004: Peter Ridsdale resigned as Barnsley chairman.
2010: Former AC Milan boss Leonardo was appointed the new manager of Inter Milan.
2011: Kerry legend Maurice Fitzgerald secured his ninth South Kerry Championshionship at the age of 42 as St Mary’s defeated Dromind Pearses.
2015: Sky Bet Championship clubs Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Bolton were all placed under a transfer embargo for the rest of the season after breaking Financial Fair Play rules during the 2014-15 campaign.
