JAKE Gray showed his class yesterday by winning the tough Newry 3-Day cycling tournament for a second time, the only rider in the races 29 year history to do so.

Gray's dominance also spread across the other competitions, the PKF-FPM King of the Hill's jersey and the Green points jersey sponsored by Chain Reaction.

Gray took control on Saturday's stage in Hilltown with a long range solo effort to take the stage win and the Spin 11 yellow jersey.

Yesterday his team controlled the race which was under threat from a dangerous 12-man move which went clear 12 miles into the 73-mile stage around the Mournes.

His Nicolas Roche Performance team kept the gap under control to bring back the break with 10 miles to go.

It was a great performance from Nick Clayton (Halesowen Academy), who clipped away in the finale of stage three to a great win which seen him move to second overall.

Friday's night Stage 1 winner, Cathal Smyth, took third overall.
