WATERFORD will meet Limerick or Tipperary in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship final after they overpowered Clare in Thurles on Sunday.

The Déise ran out 1-21 to 0-17 winners as Maurice Shanahan, Austin Gleeson and Kevin Moran impressed against the Banner. Clare’s shooting let them down when it mattered at Semple Stadium, but Davy Fitzgerald’s league winners will now turn to their attention to a run in the All-Ireland Qualifiers.

Shane Dooley was in fine form as Offaly easily saw off the challenge of Laois in their Leinster hurling quarter-final clash. Dooley racked up a total of 1-11 from placed balls as the Faithful county produced a devastating second-half performance to run out 3-22 to 2-14 winners over the O’Moore men.

Offaly will meet Galway in the Leinster SHC semi-final after the Connacht hurlers hammered 14-man Westmeath in Mullingar. Jason Flynn, Joseph Cooney and Conor Whelan all found the net for the Tribes men as they notched up a 3-27 total to Westmeath’s 0-19.
