IGGY GALLAGHER and Paul Devlin will manage the Red Hands' minor footballers in 2016, the Tyrone county board announced on Tuesday night.

Both former senior footballers with Tyrone, Devlin and Gallagher have been appointed on a two-year contract, running until 2017.

Trillick clubman Gallagher, who steps up from his current role as a coach of the Tyrone U17 academy squad, collected an Ulster Senior Football Championship medal in 1989. He has previously managed his own club's minor team, leading them to a county final in 2012, while he also led Fermanagh side Ederney to a senior league title in 2013.

Devlin of Moortown is a former Allstar nominee, who also represented Ulster in the Railway Cup. He collected Ulster Senior Football medals in 1995 and '96 and an All-Ireland U21 medal in 1990.

Devlin comes into the job following Moortown's recent renaissance at underage level. He has guided the club to back-to-back Tyrone minor championship and league doubles and also coached Ballinderry to league and championship titles.

Tyrone chairperson Róisín Jordan welcomed the duo's appointment to the role: "Iggy and Paul come into the job with great credentials. They have years of experience at club level and been working with our academy and development squads for a number of years.

"Over the next two years, they will work to develop the players to be ready to step up to U21 and senior level and we wish them every success for their term."

It is understood their backroom team for the coming season will be finalised over the next number of weeks.
