NEW Celtic signing Tyler Blackett is looking forward to testing himself in Scottish football following his move from Manchester United.
The England U21 international joined Ronny Deila's side on a season-long loan on Saturday. The 21-year-old, who had previous loan spells at Blackpool and Birmingham revealed Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal had approved the move north where Blackett expects to be tested for his toughness as well as his talent.
Speaking at Celtic's Lennoxtown training complex, he said: "I spoke to him [Van Gaal] yesterday and he said it would be good for me, good experience to get the games which I need which I couldn't get at United right now.
"To come here and play at this level is always going to be good for my development. United is a world-wide club. With the players they bring in it is always going to be difficult for young players but you have to try to break in and hopefully this can be a platform here.
"There is the physical side of it which we don't get exposed to in the U21 games at United. There is a lot of good players in the 21s, make no mistake about that, but you want to test yourself against older and more experienced players and you want that experience too.
"Obviously United is my club but right now my focus is doing a job for Celtic and doing my best.
"In my younger days I was more of a left-back but in the last year or two I have played centre back so I am equally comfortable at both and will play wherever the manager needs me to play."
