Bath faces Elle of a Rebelle-ion

ELLE REBELLE is feasibly enough treated to anticipate a big run in the Markel Handicap at Bath on Wednesday.

The five-year-old mare has been frustrating this season, but the step up to a mile-and-a-quarter at Beverley at the weekend worked out pretty well. Mark Brisbourne’s runner enjoyed herself on the Westwood as she finished third behind Rockwood in an apprentice handicap.

That was Elle Rebelle’s first stab over 10 furlongs and she unquestionably got the trip as her best work was towards the finish. There should always be an advisory attached with a horse who has not won for a year, but she has form when there is a little ease in the ground and is now 4lb lower than when she last hit the target.

Brisbourne could hardly have found her an easier opportunity.

Bath regular Lucky Diva can make it count in division one of the Ultimate Finance Groups Handicap. The eight-year-old mare will be having her 20th start at the circuit, but she usually shows up well in staying races like this.

Bill Turner’s inmate remains on a reasonable mark and, as long as conditions do not deteriorate, she can be trusted to go a few places better than when tried in excess of two miles on August 12.

It is highly unlikely we have seen the best Monasada ahead of her date in the Delga Press/Key Production Handicap at Lingfield. Michael Stoute’s progressive filly has knocked off back-to-back victories at Nottingham and Sandown, having previously brought a good level of maiden form to the table.

The daughter of Nayef has been thumped by the assessor since that cool success, but she is a tough little thing with a fair few gears. Her pedigree lends itself nicely to more demanding tests of stamina, but she can take this prize before Stoute ponders his next move.

Brave Spartacus makes considerable appeal in the mrfreebet.co.uk On Your Mobile Handicap Hurdle at Southwell. Keith Reveley’s durable sort was last sighted readily winning the Summer Plate over fences at Market Rasen.

Connections have sent him to Southwell in an attempt to exploit a considerably lower hurdles rating. He is rated 15lb lower than over fences, yet he has won some fair handicap hurdles and did not do a great deal wrong on his penultimate spin at Carlisle.
