You can't beat Human Nature

HUMAN NATURE sports the Godolphin blue in the British Stallion Studs EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes at Musselburgh on Friday and looks a likely type for Saeed bin Suroor.

The Kodiac colt has run well in each of his three starts to date, winning a Windsor maiden in June with that victory sandwiched by placed efforts. He lost little in going down by a neck giving weight away at Doncaster last month and given he has seemingly improved with every start, Human Nature can get back on the winning trail.

Mighty Yar should be given a chance to redeem himself after letting down favourite-backers last time as he lines up in the Archerfield Cup. Lady Cecil’s charge was well fancied for a competitive heat at York last month having finished a narrow second in that event in 2014, but he turned in a lacklustre display in finishing seventh.

That was a disappointing effort as he had made a decent, if belated, start to his season when third at Newmarket a couple of weeks before, keeping on well over what was probably an inadequate trip for him. The five-year-old has yet to hit the heights that saw him go off among the leading hopes for the Ebor last year and his handicap mark has duly been on the decline of late.

Now racing off a mark of 92, his lowest since last May, Mighty Yar is worth another shot, particularly as he steps back up in trip.

The Charlie Appleby-trained Wordcraft also runs for the Godolphin operation and she can score on home turf in the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association EBF Stallions Fillies’ Handicap at Newmarket this evening. Winner of her first two starts, Wordcraft came unstuck when only third in a similar event to this on the July course last month when she could not find the necessary extra over seven furlongs.

A switch to a mile here looks an excellent shout and as the runner-up from that last race has won since, the form appears to stack up.

Devonshire Place has run a couple of good races in defeat this term and her turn can come in the Buffaload Logistics More Load Less Cost Handicap.

Heartsong was unlucky to bump into an unexposed type when second last time but can go one place better in the Harry Bloom Memorial “Brighton Bullet” Handicap at Brighton.

Wayward Hoof boasts some nice entries later in the campaign and after shedding his maiden tag at Haydock, he can make a successful return to that venue for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

Southern Belle is the pick in the Young Epiliepsy Median Auction Maiden Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield.
