LÁMH DHEARG recovered from a dreadful start to eventually reel in St John’s in an entertaining Antrim SFC clash at Sarsfield’s on Friday night on a 1-12 to 2-7 scoreline.

An early Adrian Oliver penalty helped St John’s into a 1-3 to no score lead, but the Hannahstown men responded when Paddy Cunningham found the net.

There was proving to be little between the teams and a Cunningham free meant Lámh Dhearg went in at the break 1-5 to 1-4 ahead.

That lead soon turned from one point to six as three Cunningham frees and two Ryan Murray points from play put Lámh Dhearg in control.

St John’s cause wasn’t helped when they went down to 14 men, but a Kevin McGlinchey goal took them to within a point as the game headed down the home straight.

It was Lámh Dhearg who held their nerve though, and they now advance to the quarter-final.
